Excelsior Nursing Exams

Nursing Students Excelsior

Can anyone give advice on the best way to study for the Excelsior nursing exams? I have tried every method that I have heard of (except Study group) and nothing has helped me with passing the exams. I am a poor test taker and a very black and white person, so I am having difficulty with the exams. All of the exams questions are very broad and there are usually at least 2 right answers, which makes it confusing. Also, the way the questions are asked is overwhelming. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe u r just a traditional student, excelsior is not for everyone.

Are you an LPN? These are the se types of questions that require critical thinking and application of content knowledge that appear on the NCLEX. Perhaps you might do better with the online class version of the subject instead of the challenge exams.

Excelsior is not for everyone. You may need a traditional classroom setting with interaction with instructors & classmates for success. There is nothing wrong with needing a classroom environment

How do I find these study guides? I would love this if it will help. Thanks

I am a traditional student but I don't live near a college to go to school. So far I have passed all of the prereqs with no problem but I have had to take all 4 of the Excelsior exams twice. Does Excelsior offer on-line classes for the nursing portion? If anyone has advice on what is the best material to study that has some of these broad scenerio's I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Traditional student physically goes to class. By definition an excelsior student is a non-traditional student.

Yes, as of this semester they offer classes for the ASN nursing courses in addition to the challenge exams.

Note a third failure in any nursing exam/class may result in dismissal from the program.

The "study guides" are the exam content guides available in my excelsior or on the excelsior website for each challenge exam offered.
