Excelsior new test?

Published

Hi all, I plan to call EC to verify this but has anyone heard they will be adding a new test in January. This would effect anyone not enrolled by January. This is from a friend that is enrolled to C.N. I am not enrolled with them so I will f/u with EC, but I just want to know if anyone else has heard of this? This would of course raise the fee. I am trying to get thru the EC program but need to know if I should enroll now.

I recall when I first called Excelsior to verify that as a LPN I did not have to take Health Differences I was told something about how in January they were going to change the requirement. I have only been a LPN for two years so they told me I was still OK, I think it was something about if you have been out of LPN school for over 5 years, you would be required to take it. I am going to call again in the AM just to verify though because I am planning on enrolling in January--maybe sooner if possible! :-)

oh beach you are right...right now they give LPN's credit for the second nursing theory exam and i DID get an email stating that if not enrolled by Jan 2011 they even LPNs would have to take that...i got credit for it already it was considered a "pass" on my evaluation!

To Tasha, I just filled out my application online. I still need to send a copy of my license and transcripts for my Clep/Dantes credits. Do you think it is possible to be enrolled by Jan 2011, or do they take longer than that with the preliminary evaluation? Just trying to get an idea.

It takes about three weeks for them to get you enrolled but keep in mind you are dealing with the holidays.

For anyone that was wondering, I called today and verified this, if you have been a LPN for five or more years, you have to enroll by next week to be exempt from the Health Differences exam.
