Excelsior LPN to RN

Published

Hello all,

Did a live chat with an EC rep this am online, asking for the requirements for entry to the LPN-RN program. She advised that the only classes needed to begin the program were A&P, and Micro...

Can anyone confirm this...

I attained my LPN from a Technical School that only required HS Diploma. I have not taken any MAT, Science or ENC classes....YET!

Please advise!!!

Excelsior offers them both as exams. I took them both through EC. There are still other general education requirements that you may have to take but those can be taken along with the nursing exams. You can download a free brochure from their website to tell you exactly what is required. But I do know that you cannot take any nursing exams before passing A&P and Micro. My suggestion would be to CLEP all of the general eds that you can before you enroll in order to save time and money. FYI: EC A&P and micro exams don't have a lab component. Keep that in mind if you plan to pursue a BSN or MSN. A lot of colleges require a lab component if you plan to transfer and ther are many that do not. EC has a great program! And you can continue on with a BSN or MSN with them. I hope this gives you a little more insight. You can apply to EC and once accepted, you can take their general ed exams before you enroll. Good luck!
