Excelsior College in VA for RN?? How does it work?

Published

I would like to hear from from someone who has completed the EC program in Nursing and is currently working in VA? How does it work? Below is from the EC website.

]Pre-Admission State Board Form is needed.

]Initial Licensure:: Graduates applying for direct licensure will be issued a provisional RN license with requirements to work for a predetermined number of hours before being issued an RN license. For graduates who were LPNs upon enrollment with Excelsior College, the required number of hours to work with a provisional RN license is 250. For all other graduates, the required number of hours to work with a provisional license is 400.

]Endorsement: Graduates applying for licensure by endorsement must have 960 hours of RN experience.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

You would have to find a place that would allow you to work with a provisional license, or work outside of Virginia for 960 hours of RN time. I am licensed in Virginia, but I became an RN in 2008 before there were additional requirements in place.

Did you get your degree through Excelsior College?

Hey a4patch, what did you decide? Are you doing the program? I'm trying hard to get through but I keep running into financial road blocks. What part of Virginia are you in?
