Hi everyone. I am seriously considering excelsiors Lpn-Rn online, program. I have been an lpn since 2007 working full time in a ob unit, and school nurse job. I have retaken all of my preqreqs to get into a traditional nursing program, and I have been called to start 3 times, including the last time that starts this winter and I am enrolled, problem is I have to start over at the beginning of the program, it will take 18 months and I will have to quit my full time day school job that pays me 28.90 an hour. The hospital I work at has said the will supply me with all the clinical skills I need to pass the cone, I am just very nervous. Also, how do I begin excelsior? I tried to call but got no answer. Please any information is greatly appreciated and I really want study buddies.

Amy I am considering excelsior for doing my RN too but I have not enroll as yet i want to do the enrollment just as I am confident I can pass my exam I plan to do credit by exam. So far I have my three science subject to do and would welcome anyone who wants to be a study buddy I am looking forward in starting this in Jan

I talked with a rep from excelsior last night on the phone. She was very helpful, the first thing we need to do is apply, and request our transcripts. It is 80.00 for the application fee. Then they will evaluate our transcripts and see what classes we need. She said that while we are waiting, which may take 3 weeks, you may start the transitional nursing course. I also have an appt with a rep from achieve test prep Wednesday morning to discuss there option. I do know that it is just a program that helps to prepare you, but I may need the accountability if I don't find study buddies.

All Achieve costs are in ADDITION to the costs, exam fees, registration costs tuition etcetera. This, and other test prep companies/publishers add up to $10,000 or more cost. There are no governmental loans or financial aid that will cover the cost of test prep companies. Only private funding that is often high interest.

Once enrolled you can access the message boards at Excelsior and find study buddies there also. There are a few yahoo groups for excelsior nursing students

This program is truly designed for an independent learner with a strong academic and clinical background.
