Excelsior College questions

I am looking into Lpn- RN programs, Excelsior college has popped up in my search.

For those who are going through or have been through their program, is it worth it? My Hubby is concerned about them not being Legit. LPN's how much credit were you given for being LPN's. Any difficulty with employers about having your degree through them.

Am I understanding it correctly in that you primarily earn credit through taking their exams at a center? Correct me if I am wrong.

Any other info you want to add will be much appreciated. :)

Oh the rumor mill!

When are you going to check with the CA BORN to see WHY new Excelsior Grads are not accepted? When are you going to check with them to see That if your are an RN your degree is recognized? I don't even live in CA and am up on this.

When are you going to ask EC about this?

When are you going to ask EC to give you the pass rate for each of their test Sites?

When are you going to ask EC what the requirements are for you? It IS different if you are already an RN. At the present it depends on if you enrolled

Agnus, I think you've misread my post. I was talking about new EC grads, and said so in my post. If you're talking about existing RNs who are grandfathered in, that's true. I never said otherwise.

The OP asked about potential hiring issues with EC as a prospective nursing student, not as an existing RN. And, to answer her question, there have been some hiring issues with new EC grads in California. She might want to check and see if this is happening in her own state.

I did check with the BORN. They told me hospitals weren't hiring new EC grads. Quite frankly, I don't think that's true of all hospitals in California. But the Kaiser situation is a matter of public record, and has even been reported in the newspaper where other hospitals, who have the same policy, were also mentioned.

It's not rumor.
