I am currently an Lpn and looking to complete my RN degree-Associates only; preferrably online. Has anyone heard of Excelsior College in New York? I did some research and I believe you have to work in a federal facility for 2 yrs to complete your degree as an RN. Is this correct? If anyone has any info. please let me know.
Thanks

IL does not recognize newly licensed Excelsior grads. They may consider your application for licensure after you have completed 2 years of RN experience out of state.

Please look into the IL Public health site:
"Conditions of Application--Applicants have three years from the date of
the Department's receipt of the application to complete the application
process including passage of examination. If the process has not been
completed in three years, the application shall be denied, the fee forfeited,
and the applicant must reapply and meet the requirements in effect at the time
of application, including proof of the successful completion of at least 2
additional years of professional nursing education.
NOTE: Excelsior College a/k/a/ the University of the State of New York
Regents External Degree Program is an unapproved nursing education
program in the State of Illinois due to the fact that it does not have concurrent
theory and clinical components as required by the Illinois Nurse Practice
Act. Therefore, it is considered to be a correspondence course which is
identified by the Act as not meeting the requirements for licensure."
