Hi, Anyone here recieve their degree from E.C. or other distance learning program and find a job in Washington D.C.? I looked at the hospitals: Sibley for example requires new grads to provide a letter from their clinical preceptor. Which you would not have if you went through E.C. right? I am about to start the program just due to the long wait for traditional programs, and the flexability. Thanks for any responses.

I saw something about this one time but forgot the specifics. Please contact Excelsior College and ask what they do about this. I believe they will provide such a letter for you, but I am not sure. http://www.excelsior.edu

Hi there. I went to Excelsior for the LPN-RN program. To get a new grad job at the hospital I wanted, I had to provide 3 letters of recommendation from nursing faculty. They did not specify clinical faculty. So, since it had only been a year since I had graduated from my LPN program, I got 2 letters from there. Then a faculty member from excelsior wrote me one as well. It wasn't personal to me like my other 2... but it did talk about all the requirements of the Excelsior program and how I am well prepared because I have successfully completed all the components of the program (I can't remember specifically what it said). It was pretty long though, more than a page... and although it wasn't personal, it was a decent letter. Don't expect to get more than one letter from them though... b/c I asked for 2 in case one of my other teachers didn't come through for me and Excelsior sent me 2 letters that said the exact same thing with just different faculty signatures lol. By the way... I had just sent a message through myEC on the website... they have a department that deals directly with writing recommendation letters. So while it is not from a clinical faculty member, they attest to your clinical skills by discussing how you passed a difficult clinical performance exam (CPNE). Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply RN543. I did not wish to waste my money, and not be able to obtain a job after completion. Sometimes the job sites really scare you.
Anyone else out there with info?
