I will be taking my first travel assignment in Florida this winter and am considering the following hospitals:

Oak Hill Hospital- Brooksville

Palms West Hospital- Loxahatchee (West Palm Beach)

Good Samaritan Medical Center- West Palm Beach

JFK Memorial- West Palm Beach

Florida Hospital Hartland- Sebring

Anybody have any thumbs up or down on the above?

Thanks

I would recommend the West Coast , stay away from WPB hospitals!! I just moved to Michigan from Cape Coral and was working at Lee Memorial they have five hospitals , one called Health Park it is beautiful and everyone is great! I am originally from WPB and there hospitals are terrible. Looking forward to moving back to the Cape it is freezing here!! Good Luck!

I worked at palmswest for 2.5 years, Good Samaritan for 13 weeks and many of my friends at JFK. I went to nursing school and lived in the area for 15 years, now im in Cali.

I would say no to Palmswest due to the low pay and nursing shortage! I worked in the ER in both pedi an adults. Very clean enviroment. There is not cusing and screaming as another said. The ER doctors are ALL very welcoming and the patients are not hard to please. The only reason I left, as a staff nurse, is the pay is terrible and that caused a big shortage.

Good Sam is a great place to work. The pay is good, the nurse manage is wonderful and the staff all get along. The set up of the ER is nurse friendly. Rarely ever do they use hallway beds because of privacy issues. There are wealthy people that go there, from Palm Beach island, and there is a "floor" for them when they get admitted as well. When I go back to fla. this is the hospital I am requesting.

JFk is super busy but is affiliated with palswest, very low pay. Nice hospital in a great are. High acuity pts because they are a cardiac center. More of a geriatric population because of location.

Hope this helps you out! Palm Beach county is a beautiful place to live as well. I still live there, but have just begun traveling over the past year and have been back to visit 5 times!

Hello,

Has anyone ever worked at Columbia Hospital in West Palm Beach on the PCU floor? I am considering a travel position here. I usually work at Martin Memorial in Stuart, Florida and just wanted something closer to my housing. Or does anyone know of a decent hospital in that general area...Jupiter to WPB??

Thanks

I did my nursing clinicals here, and cried every day after! I actually did PCU and tele. What a disaster. There are not any nurses working there. When I was there, 2 nurses were on for a 20 bed tele unit. We were taking care of the pts as students and charting without any direction for a RN. Very scary what happens to these patients. I almost called a family member to get one of my patients out of that hospital. Doctors "oversee" a lot of problems that arise in these pts, and they become very sick very quick! :o
