After months and months of waiting, I recently received an offer and accepted a position as an RN for the BOP. I'm trying to find out some info on what I can expect in Glynco GA for training. The last thread on this subject was dated over a year ago so I'm just wondering if there have been any changes??

What is the living situation? Are classes 5 days a week? Is the gun training difficult? Is there anything to do on the weekends? Are the exams tough? Do you recommend renting a car to get around town? I'd like to bring my own laptop and am wondering if they have wi-fi in the facility? Ok, thats enough questions for now.

Thx in advance for your sharing your experience! :)

I can't actually answer any of your questions, but you may be able to answer mine. I am considering applying for a BOP RN position. Problem is we're relocating to Memphis, TN (FCI Memphis is there) in December, but I don't know if there is a position open there. The USA Jobs website just said nationwide. Did you get to pick where you went or did they tell you where to go? I sent an email to BOP HR today asking the same question and will hopefully hear back about it, but figured I'd ask you as well. How many months did it take for them to get back in touch with you after you sent in all ppwk?

Using the USPHS website, I found an opening in my area. I contacted the HR personnel listed for that facility. However, after they didn't respond in a timely manner, I also contacted the woman listed in the nationwide job ad. I'm sure she will get back to you soon. She has been very helpful to me and I'm sure she can tell you if they are hiring in TN.

It took me about 2 months to get an interview with the facility I applied to. Part of this was due to the fact that I wasn't in town, then the other was that no one returned my calls /emails. Be persistent! Also, I would strongly recommend you apply to the USPHS now because it is a lengthy process that can take up to 2 months. Good luck!!

So back to the question at hand, can anyone share info about GLYNCO???:) :) :)

thx!!
