Have you ever felt your NCLEX review book was just plain wrong?
Not to bash one book over the other, but I have Lippincott's Q&A book, I'm using it to test my knowledge after I review a section in another book by Saunders.
Anyway, the L. Q&A book asks a question where they state a patient is having an MI and the doc orders nitroglyerin tabs. What is the correct way to give them?
I answered tell the client to stick under the tongue until they dissolve. Which I KNOW is the right answer. The answer section actually says tell the client to chew them to make them dissolve faster.
I guess the patient could technically chew them and hold the remnants under his tongue for dissolution, and NOT swallow them, but it doesn't include a swallow/versus no swallow in the answer options.
I just know that nitro tabs must be dissolved under the tongue to avoid the oral/GI route where the drug's effects will be significantly decreased by the high first pass rate.
I know the answer. But it makes me MAD that my book is wrong. What else could it be wrong about?! I'm taking this exam in four days and don't need this extra anxiety about whether I have the right book or not.
Has anyone caught errors in their study books before????

Yes, both in the book & on the CD. However, the actual exam in NOTHING like the books (other than perhaps they way questions are set up). You know your stuff, the best thing to do is try & relax.
