Evening programs in Jacksonville, FL

Published

I am a single mom of two, a 9 year old and a 7 month old. I am working in the legal field but have always wanted to be a nurse. I am 33 years old and have been researching the associates degree Nursing programs and testing to become an RN.

Does anyone know anything about any evening programs in Jacksonville, FL? Are you a single parent and been through nursing school? Any suggestions? Tips? Advice? Sometimes I think I'm on the right track and sometimes I think I'm too old and should just continue doing what I'm doing but I long for a career that I truly love.

Thanks for your replies in advance :-)

I'm 30 and will (hopefully) be starting the FSCJ nights/weekends program in May. I have a 9 year old daughter and the only family I have in town is her dad and my fiancé. I've spent the last year or so taking my pre-reqs as well as working a full-time job and a part-time job so I've had some time to acclimate with the challenges of juggling work/school/family. It is possible. You just have to be motivated and have a support system in place that works for you. Unfortunately my daughter's dad has just started giving me a hard time about pitching in but I've always been of the mindset that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Being a little older gives you an advantage in having the maturity to deal with difficult situations and stress so I don't think age is really a factor. Ultimately, you have to do what's best for your situation. My motivation is not only that I want to better myself but also that I want to be a role model for my daughter and teach her that you should work hard for the things you want and not give up.

Best of luck to you.

Hello, thank you for your reply. I was unaware that FSCJ was offering an evening program. Where can I find more information as I have searched their website.

They don't offer it every semester and the location could vary (it used to be based out of North campus but this year will be out of Deerwood). The best person to contact is Cheryl James at FSCJ ([email protected]). She will be able to answer all of questions about the nursing programs (days or nights/weekends).
