Has anyone attended the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts for the LVN program in San Mateo, CA? or the NCP, Inc.'s LVN program in SSF, CA? If you have, can you give me an evaluation of what you thought about it, advantages, disadvantages, their instruction, teachers, labs, etc...?

do you know if it is transferable for the credits towards lvn-rn bridge programs like in merritt or chabot? I'm considering of checking it out or perhaps just take the program if it works out with transferring the credits towards cc

Some colleges will let you bypass the first year of the RN program if you are a LVN. You will still need to complete your pre reqs and general ed. requirements for graduation. You should talk with a counselor at the college you are considering for RN to get further details. Good luck!

Hi Scallywags,

seems like in other threads it doesn't matter as long as you have passed your nclex and currently working as an lvn with x years of experience. is that supposed to be right?

are there graduates here from gurnick who can share their thoughts about gurnick?

thx!!

(JUST VENTING) I looked at a few vocational schools in the bay area. Didn't like the price, but was still looking around, trying to decide which one, until I find out that in visalia, by fresno, one program 2500 dollars. the adult school in clovis around 6,000 dollars. one in yuba city free? I dont get it, it is a absolute shame that the cost in most places in the bay area, cost that much,(over 20 grand) they are just racking in the money.:angryfire now that I got that off my chest I feel better. have a nice day!

Hi, I graduated from NCP Hayward and I thought that they had pretty good teachers. The clinical rotations were a bit disorganized. some days we'd have no teachers, other days we'd have two or 3 teachers. sometimes we only knew what facility we were going to at the last minute. It was very frustrating, however in general I believe i got a very good education and training. Plus, They have new staff and a new director, so things might have gotten better (or worse). I graduated in 2004. good luck!
