I am a student at Gurnick. I just finished the pre req class and will be starting the LVN program in two weeks.
I have talked with a few students who are in the LVN program and will be graduating in Apr. They seem very enthusiastic about the program and their experiences over the past year.
I also looked at NCP, but they did not offer an evening class.
Hi Scallywags. I meet with someone at the school on Tuesday. Can you tell me how much the tuition is there? Also can you tell me how the entrance test is? Thanks.
Hi Sharon,
The tuition is $18,400. There were other charges, such as the books/materials of $500 (includes 11 books, 2 uniforms, stethascope, BP Cuff, penlight), STRF Fee is $42, Registration $75 and the prereq Biology class is $2475. Total $21,492. This included the entrance exam. I was able to get a deferred loan thru Sally Mae where I pay only $10 per month until I graduate.
Are you thinking of joining the next class starting in May?
Well, I took the pre entrance test today and passed. Yeah!!!! I thought I was just going to go and talk to the administrator but she asked me If I would take the test. I did and I am so glad I passed. The program starts in July but I will be taking the prerequisites a month earlier. Thanks for all the luck.
Fantastic! Did you go to the Concord location? Were the questions on that exam the strangest things you have ever read? I was baffled...but made it through.Good luck with the program! I hope the instructors over in Concord are great!
Thanks. Yes I went to the Concord location. The questions were strange at first I 'm just sitting there like what the. But I got through it and glad I passed.
Hi Sharron and Scallywags,
I also going to start my LVN on Gurnick san mateo this coming May 15 and paying it thru Saliemae and they have a evening class while i'm working fulltime on my work. NCP is also good school and i'm only 3 miles away but i didn't enrol over there because they don't have a financing loan like Saliemae, they only have private loan that you have to pay within a year while you are in school.

Has anyone attended the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts for the LVN program in San Mateo, CA? or the NCP, Inc.'s LVN program in SSF, CA? If you have, can you give me an evaluation of what you thought about it, advantages, disadvantages, their instruction, teachers, labs, etc...?
