ESL Student passed nursing school and NCLEX-RN on the first try

Published

The day that I passed NCLEX I decided to write my story because you don’t find a lot of information about nursing school and ESL students. Let me tell you that nursing school they say it is hard but it is harder for ESL students but it’s not impossible.
I was one of the few people in my classes that english wasn’t my first language, it took me more time to learn the information because I was also learning new terminology and new material. Let me tell you that it is going to be challenging to pass nursing school and NCLEX but you are as smart as the other people. If I can do it, you can do it too!
Let me give you some advice:

  • Always study the material before class and try to find a good study group
  • Never doubt yourself, you are smart enough to finish nursing school
  • If you fail a semester or NCLEX do not panic, you always have a second chance and you will learn the material better the second time.
  • Never leave the classroom with questions, always ask what you do not understand.
  • Surround yourself with positive people

You got this, I am proof that is possible to pass nursing school being an ESL student.
