in your emergency room during triage is a full assessment done in your triage or just a triage assessment? I believe it is the patient nurse to complete a full assessment, how else are they going to know anything about their pt.

Triage assessment is not a full assessment. Triage assessments are done to allow you to sort the patients by severity so the ED's resources can be properly managed. The "full" patient assessment is done by the first nurse that's primarily providing care. In my ED, there are several possibilities as to who that nurse will be, and it's never the triage RN.

In triage you don't need to do a full assessment - nor do you have time. The triage nurse is only establishing severity of the patient complaint. Usually some sort of algorithm is used.
