ER Tech

To those of you who have been there and done that:

How does one become an ER Tech?

Is there certain training I can/should take?

What does the job entail?

I think those are all my questions for the time being.

Thank You in advance...

Tina

Most of the postings I see for Er tech require at least an EMT-b. Some even require a paramedic license. I have seen adverts for nurse techs who might be floated to the er and the only requirement is usually that a person has completed their first sem of NS.

Ok thanks,

Ya I've seen some postings with only a HS diploma and some that require degrees...

OK so EMT might be a safe route...

Thanks

Where I live EMT is not accepted for ER Tech - I know this because I actually called HR and asked because I wondered how one becomes an ER Tech. First semester of nursing school or a specialized Phlebotomy/EKG program were the only ways to get the job. If you really want to be sure, ring the hospitals that have the jobs and just ask to speak to HR - they'll let you know for sure and you'll have made a pre-contact that could later help you get your foot in the door.

OK so then it's not too aggressive to call HR? Great!! Will DO!!
