Equipment and supplies needed for sim lab..

Hello all!

I have been teaching PCT and MA courses for over three years, and now I just recently got a faculty position for an ADN instructor. I am so excited and I was asked to make a list of stuff I'll need for the lab for Maternity and Peds sim lab. I have a list started, but I wanted to be through. So I am soliciting some ideas of what I'll need so I will be prepared.

Thanks in advanced!

I would suggest that you contact your local reps for sim equipment (Laerdal, Gaumard - there are probably more) and ask for their input. They can provide you with the contact people at similar sim lab installations. Also, they can let you know if there is any sort of Sim education group in your area that you could join. There is a nice Simulation education consortium in the Houston area... most of the nursing schools are members. Many of the 'pioneer' schools now provide courses in Simulation teaching - well worth the investment.

Finally, join the Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) - they have a wonderful annual conference & host a lot of training opportunities. They are also 'THE' accreditation entity for sim labs, if that is something your school may be interested in.

Wishing you happy moulage adventures!
