Hi! I'm writing because I would like to get into home health nursing. I couldn't figure out how to post this under that specialty, so hopefully someone will still answer!
I have been a nurse for 7 years, but my primary experience has been in Postpartum, with some Labor and Delivery and Public Health mixed in. I think that Med/Surg experience would be really good for me before jumping into Home Health, but I have small children and really don't want to work the 12 hour shifts! Would gaining experience in long term care be beneficial? There are a lot of these openings in assisted living facilities where I live.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

In my area there are mother/baby visiting nurses who make postpartum follow up visits. They weigh the babies, educate the parents, etc. This would allow you to get that home health experience and maybe you could work per diem med surg at the same time to eventually shift over to regular VNA if you were still interested.
That would be my dream job, but there's nothing like it where I live! Thank you for your reply, though. I really appreciate it!!
