Hey everyone! I'm new and have questions about the entrance exams into ADN programs. My community college that I am applying to used to have two separate programs, LPN and then RN, and you had to test for each program, you had to make it into LPN and then once you graduated you had to test again to get into the RN program, dumb.. Starting this year they have done away with the separate programs and now you only test once to get into the now 2 year program, LPN to RN. My question is, what's the difference between all of these entrance exams? TEAs! Hesi? And I know there's more... Anyway I've looked at my schools website and checked out all the requirements for the nursing program and there is a test but I haven't found whether its a TEAs or hesi or what... Should I call and find out or can I just study any of them? I have a Kaplan nursing entrance exam study guide book and it doesn't have a specific name on it either so would that be a good resource? Sorry so long, I reallllly want to get in... I tested two years ago and my score wasn't high enough... Now I'm two babies later and our family needs me to pursue my dream to be a nurse!! Any help deciphering these tests and what I should study is greatly appreciated!! :)

Make sure you know which exam to study for, and purchase a specific guide for that exam. I took the TEAS, and I really liked ATI's study guide, as I found it lined up very closely with the exam. Have you taken your prereqs? You'll want to have most of that done before you take the exam.
Ok I'll call tomorrow and make sure what test it is they administer. I have my associates degree in science so I have all the general stuff done but I still need A&P 1&2, nutrition, microbiology, a chemistry class and I think one more.. But the only ones that have to be finished by the first year are the A&P classes, the others can be taken along with the nursing classes, although not necessarily recommended. But I plan on knocking most if not all out before I enter (hopefully!) the program next fall. I can test starting this fall around November I think is when I can test first for the fall 2015 program. So I'm going to take a couple classes this summer and then take something in the fall and test in the fall and then finish classes next spring and summer so I should have them all completed before the nursing program starts so that I will only have to worry about the nursing specific classes.
