Enrolling in Concorde *PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!*

Hey everyone, I was just wondering how the Entrance Exam is like?

I heard the Math exam is pretty basic, but I've been out of High School more than a few years...and we all know how that goes. Basically, I haven't done Math since and have forgotten even the simple formulas.

And to think, Math was one of my favorite subjects in High School and did rather well in it, got A's and B's in Alg/Trig II and Geometry.

Is there any way I can better prepare for this? I'm sure I haven't completely forgotten them, but I just need a little refresher to remind me of what I've been missing out on.

Someone mentioned that they administered the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) in the Los Angeles area.

Can anyone that attended Concorde, American Career College, Stanbridge, etc...give me a brief and/or detailed rundown of what this basic Exam consists of? I'm assuming they're similar.

Please help me, my interview is soon and I'm trying my best to prepare for this.

This is the only part that has me worried. I have high confidence in the Interview and the English/Grammar part of the test, but I have no idea how the Math is going to be like.

I've been doing some research and so far found...NET, CPAt, TABE, etc.

Honestly, if you got an A or a B in Alg II/Trig, then I don't know why you're freaking out. As long as you have a decent grasp of algebra, then you should be fine. Private LVN programs dont really require much from incoming students when it comes to math. These schools are not competitve to get into, and will pretty much accept any high school graduate who has a decent grasm of english/grammar and basic math skills. Really, calm down, I'm sure you'll be fine.

I blow in Math and got in the top 18% of the national NET scores...trust me you'll have no problem. There are many free online refresher math/algebra sites online...search google. I went to Concorde in San diego...their theory is quite good but their clinical sites were weak imo.

I predict you'll pass with flying colors...just shake off the math dust. :)

I'm sure this post is probably late, but this may help others...

I just took the NET at Concorde in Aurora Colo to get into the RN program. It is 60 minutes and 60 questions on the Math, and 33 questions and 30 minutes for Reading Comprehension.

You take the test on a computer, and the program is DOS-based, so once you give your final answer on an answer, you can't go back. This was ESPECIALLY nerve-wracking on the reading comprehension, as questions about the "entire passage" were on something you read quickly and could no longer refer back to!

I brought a stopwatch to pace myself, which helped.

Also, look up in your local Library, "Nursing Entrance Tests" - Kaplan's entrance test is great for tips and strategies, but for the NET just focus on Math and Reading Comprehension. Again, practice reading comprehension!

For the Math section of the NET, the ONLY thing you need to know is basic...

long division (example: 85/35863)

long multiplication (example: 456*2351)

long addition (.4523+34.32+.00345) or (34529+3482)

long subtraction (7.2134-6.92538)

complex fraction addition, subraction, multiplication and division (3/4 / 4/15, 2 3/9* 4 3/15)

how decimals, percents, fractions and ratios translate (6:10 =?%, correct answer, 60%. Other questions, like "32 is what is 0.0625% of what number?)

very basic algebra (Solve for x: 5(3x-4)-3(2x-20)=5x+23)

If you can answer one question per minute effectively, you'll do well.
