Anyone able to give me information on what it is like to work for Enlon?
Is there a nurses' union?
I see thier job application requires me to check that I agree to come in if called in when they are short and work extra and I agree to be called off during low census. Is this legal in CA?
How often does this happen?
What kind of payscale do they have?
Benefits?
How are they to work for in general?
Would you recomend them?
Any other insights you can offer?
Thanks

Do you mean "Enloe"? I think that they do have a union there. I also think it's pretty normal to expect call off during low census and have to pick up some overtime sometimes when short staffed.
I have never worked there, but spent some time there as a student nurse. I actually considered working there, but ended up working at a smaller hospital closer to home.
If you're really interrested in working there, you should call and speak to their recruiter. She'll be able to answer all your questions about pay scale and benefits.
Sorry I can't be of more help to you.
Good luck to you.
Yes that probably is the correct name. In any case I believe it is the only hospital in Chico. Do you know about hospitals in towns near Chico? Or even other types of facilities.
Did you enjoy your clinicals there? Can you tell me any more such as the general work atmosphere?
Yes, Enloe is the only hospital in Chico. There are also many smaller facilites in town (nursing homes, clinics and Dr.'s offices).
The two other hospitals close to chico are Feather River hospital in Paradise and Oroville hospital in Oroville. They are both about a 1/2 hour or so drive from Chico.
I enjoyed my time there as a student. There were some really great nurses there who really seemed to enjoy teaching. I'm used to a smaller hospital atmosphere, so felt the atmosphere was a bit cold... but as I said, I'm used to a much smaller hospital. I think it would probably be a nice place to work, and still think about the possibility of going there some day.
I hope that helps a little.
Thank you. Wow, I thought Enloe was small. From what I read on the web site they are 100 beds. Where I am at we have almost 80 beds on our unit alone. I feel like I am still a stranger here after 2 yrs.
I was thinking how nice it would be to get back to a small hospital of only 100 beds. Relativity:)
I started out in a specialized hosp of 22 beds. And I worked in another specialized hospital where 48 patients seemed to be the max for the whole hospital. Both were semi long term although they were acute hospitals. but 35 days was the average stay at these hospitals. And when it came time to discharge it was never move em out as fast as you can and treat patient turnover like it was a cattle call. The treat em and street em attitude was unheard of there. You knew your patients. You were known by your co workers. Here not only are the patients just numbers but so is the staff.
