Endo Travel

Specialties Gastroenterology

Hi guys,

I've been a member on this site for about 10 yrs. (?). Evidently I lurked too long without posting & I got booted off. I had to reset my password & set a new account. LOL.

My kids are 19 & 22 now & in college full time. They'll both be getting their own apartments this Fall so I'd like to start travel nursing (probably around Feb '16). Problem is, I've been doing GI now x16 yrs. I wouldn't mind doing some med/surg but I've been away so long I don't know how marketable I'd be in that field anymore.

So I was wondering....have any of you done travel nursing for endoscopy? Are there enough positions available to keep me busy?

Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks,

Amy :)

You will do great I am sure.

How is your assignment so far? I've recently started looking into doing travel nursing as an Endo nurse but have no experience outside of that. Have they floated you outside preop/pacu? Have you been able to work in the procedure rooms? Thanks!

I'm only a week in but I'm learning a ton! I'm working pre/post/Endo. The pre & post is totally new to me (it's all outpatient procedures, not just endo). I've been strictly outpatient endo for the last 17 years. I couldn't have asked for a better first assignment, the staff here are so glad to have help & have been willing to train me in the areas I didn't know. I know, as a traveler, you're supposed to be able to hit the floor running but they've been fantastic. I do work the procedure rooms as well....bronchs, ERCP's, upper & lower endoscopies. That part's familiar. :)

I don't think I'll ever be floated off this floor, they're too short-staffed. If I am, though, I'm not too worried. I like learning new stuff. I've found even if you don't know the area, if you're willing to learn & have a good attitude people are helpful & nice.

There's not as much endo positions out there for travelers as there is the other areas but there's plenty to keep you busy. I didn't have any trouble finding several to choose from.

Hope this helps!

Amy :)
