EMR or EHR and ACLS

Hi!

I'm trying to get back into the clinical side of nursing after 22 years of case management.  Is there a electronic medical record or electronic medical record class I can take online?  Also, what suggestions could give me as to how learn to read EKG strips?  I am taking an online ACLS course and wanted to get feedback on how to study/learn and general knowledge of this course.

Thank you,

NancyR in CA

Epic seems to be the most popular EMR these days.  However, you will get training in its use as part of orientation so I see no need to seek training until you get hired. I would advise against voluntarily taking ACLS without actual recent clinical experience. Sure, you could pass it but the ability to synthesize concepts taught with bedside experience helps immensely with being able to retain the information.

No use studying any EMR in advance. You will receive training to the facility's EMR.

An online ACLS course is going overboard. You need to learn basic rhythms first. I don't know how to teach yourself telemetry. It's pretty intense. I received a 6 week class and still learned on the job every day. Google basic ekg/ telemetry and start slow.

 Good luck.
