Employment satisfaction survey

So, our manager does one of these at work and asks us all for input. Very good effort to at least gather some info -- but then her "plan" was to see to it that the changes will be implemented "over the next YEAR."

A YEAR?? I was sort of taken aback by this. I mean -- if it takes them a year to fix these issues -- how many staff will leave during that time and new ones come on? I mean -- I doubt I can stand it if the problems most people listed are not fixed within at least 3 to 6 months!

How is it that management can even earn their pay if they are this slow to want to attempt to fix issues with employee satisfaction? If I were manager, I'd be setting goals to repair things within WEEKS, not years.

I suppose it would depend on the things that need changing really. If they are little things then yes it may well take only a few weeks but if there are major issues that need addressing then she may well need to write business plans, request funding, gain authorisation, write policies. THis all takes time

It is far better to give an overestimate of the time it would take to make changes than raise expectations and fail to deliver in the time specified
