Emory University Master of Nursing (MN) Pathway to Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) - Where did you do your pre-reqs?

Published

Hello everyone,

I'm planning to apply to Emory's MN Pathway to MSN, and I'm working on the prerequisites (A&P I/II, Microbiology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Statistics, and Human Growth & Development).

For those of you who've already applied or are in the program:

  • Where did you take your prereqs?
  • Did Emory admissions seem to prefer certain schools or community colleges?
  • Does anyone have experience with Gwinnett Tech, GSU Perimeter, or other Atlanta-area schools?

I also reached out to Emory admissions myself. They informed me that StraighterLine is not accepted, and when I sent over the Gwinnett Technical College course descriptions, they requested the full syllabi instead. The issue is that GTC doesn't make syllabi easily available online, so I'm a bit stuck on what to do next.

Would love to hear from anyone who has gone through this process—any advice or experiences would really help me figure out the smoothest way forward. Thanks!

Hello @Kev0122 and welcome to allnurses.

We moved your topic to the School Programs forum where it is better suited.

I know that you posted this a month ago, but I took most of my pre-reqs at Kennesaw (I did my undergrad there) and the rest on Portage learning... I went to Emory's nursing open house last month and they said that they have plenty of students who do their pre-reqs via sites like portage, but make sure the transcript comes from a regionally accredited school.

They said that you can always send a message to the nursing questions email and they're happy to confirm whether they accept classes from a specific school or site for you.

Thank you so much for your comment! I actually emailed Emory, and they confirmed that Portage courses are acceptable. I was just thinking that maybe offline schools might be better for lab courses. Since you mentioned Kennesaw, I'll definitely check that out. Thanks again!
