Hello all!
I am a Cardiac Telemetry/Progressive Care RN currently working at West Ga. Medical Center in LaGrange. I have 16 months of work experience since graduating with my ADN and I have also recently completed my BSN in May. I've been looking to relocate to the metro Atlanta area, so I put in resumes all over. Yesterday I got a call from Emory Midtown's nurse recruiter, who promised me an interview on a Med/Surg floor working weekend days. The only problem is that I was quoted approx. $22 as base pay, which he said was non negotiable. What do you guys think? Should I still try to haggle, or is this a fair rate for a BSN prepared RN with almost 1.5 years experience?

That seems a little on the low side to me. I know Piedmont, Northside, and Wellstar begin new grads at around $23.50-24 hourly. So I would assume you would be able to make slightly more than that...Hope that helps!

Actually, these days you should feel fortunate that they offered you the position. It is not the time to haggle about a buck or two. Get in the door and show them what you can do. Trust me. There are not that many places hiring nurses today. Good Luck. :nurse:

I actually just moved to Atlanta. I'm a young guy not long out of nursing school (2 years) and depending on the area, the starting pay seems to be around ~$23/hr for that amount of experience. Depending on what exactly you're bringing to the table, and shift-diff etc., you can bump that up a little bit. But overall, I feel like that is a fair rate. Like has been said, getting your foot in the door somewhere is the hardest part. Once you've landed a job, worked it for 6 months or so, and networked with the right people, a lot of doors open up that way. What part of Atlanta do you live in?
I live about 40 minutes South of Atlanta right now, but looking to move to the metro area. I have a solid job offer from Emory and then an interview next week with Northside.
