Emory D-ABSN Fall 2020

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm a new AllNurses member, so I'm gradually getting the hang of how to navigate through the website. I applied to Emory's D-ABSN program for the fall 2020 cohort and am awaiting a decision. Anyone else on the same boat or have already received a decision? I've been in close contact with one of the admissions advisors, Megan Norfleet, and she said it should take anywhere between 4 and 6 weeks to get an admissions decision.

Also, can anyone who's already a D-ABSN student give me the lowdown of their experience by far. I'd love to hear from all of you!

I'm in the DABSN program now. I put some comments on the program in a different thread:

We just finished our first trip to Atlanta for clinicals, which was a great experience as well. Things have been "flexible" with the COVID situation (we were supposed to go to Atlanta at the end of April), but the program faculty are dedicated and really working to make arrangements to keep us on track.

Hi, thank you for that attachment! I have a few specific questions that I hope you don’t mind answering:

• About how long was the wait time to hear back after you applied?

• How many times a year do you travel down to Atlanta?

• How long were you completing clinicals in Atlanta this time around?

I applied in mid-May and heard back mid-September, but I believe that is when they released the initial set of decisions (even though they are supposedly rolling). That was for the January cohort.

You're supposed to go twice: once at the end of the first semester (skills check off, simulations, first clinical) and once at the end of the program (capstone). Each trip is supposed to be about two weeks. We spent extra time (three weeks) because we needed to do two clinical rotations due to COVID delaying our initial trip and the need to have check offs before you can do local clinicals.

Hi! I am applying and awaiting a decision for this fall also for the DABSN program. I would love to get into this program ! I am not sure when to expect a decision but it’s been 8 weeks so far since I applied.

Hey there @Jmeflower78! It's been about a month now since I've applied -- strange that it's been 2 months now for you and you still haven't received a decision considering they stated that a decision should be made within 4-6 weeks. Have you attempted to reach out to the admissions committee or an advisor at all?

I wish you the best of luck, potential classmate! Would you be willing to speak via message to keep close contact with one another?

Yes, I have been in contact with them. We can definitely stay in touch through messages! I’d be happy to :)

Yay!! I'm fairly new to this site and figuring out how to navigate. How do I start a private message?

I am not sure how to send private messages, it might cost or require a certain number of posts? Feel free to email me though, jmeflower78 at gmail

Have any of you done on to complete a masters program at Emory after completing the DABSN program?
