EMCC ADN program

Published

East Mississippi Community College has a survey on their website to help in receiving approval for an ADN program. Please help if you think emcc should have a RN program. THANKS:bugeyes:

hello, i have been accepted into the LPN program at EMCC, classes begin August 18...I am very excited to begin this journey and would love to be able to continue at EMCC, through a bridge program..Are you a former student of the college? I have several copies of the survey on hand, and I will be working to get signatures...:yeah:

Yes. Class of 2007:bugeyes: This is a good school with great Teachers.Very hard program but you learn what is needed to ENTER the nursing world.:lol2:

do you have any advice/suggestions about student loans or applying for grants, and other types of funding to help during nursing school..since i will have to resign from my current job..i am interested to know of any assistance i may be eligible for...i am a divorced, single parent, 2 kids.. did you work during the program? i know they recommend that you do not..are you still in the area? how was the job search? are you satisfied with the pay in this area? i know i am nosey, but most of it is nervousness..I am still in shock!:nurse:

FuturenurseIam is this the first time you have attended emcc if so make sure you apply for the act scholarship. It will help some. No I didn't work during the program. I live 60 miles away i drove the whole time. The job outlook in my area is a little different than the Columbus or West point area. I work two part time jobs and drive 30 miles to one and 45 miles to the other. I love my current employers and continue to drive the distance regardless of gas prices for NOW. My hometown only has a small hospital and one nursing facility and the pay isn't great from what I hear. It isn't all about the money but I do have to support my family.Do you have family to help with your children during school? My father and boyfriend (husband now) were very very helpful with my three children during nursing school. Feel free to ask any questions I will answer to the best of my ability...:nuke::nuke:

sorry about the delay of the response... i have been taking classes online(part time)..i wonder if since this will be my first time as a full time student, could i still apply for the act scholarship...i want to think i have strong family support system, as i am newly divorced..however, my immediate family will take the slack...thank GOD! My main concern is the funding for my everyday living...I will apply for a perkins loans, i have been reading this depends on the amount of money the school has to offer..i have applied at the winjob center...at this point in my life, failing is not an option...so if i can get the funding situation under control, i know i will devote everything i have to the program...i do have faith in GOD, that he will make a way! So I guess I need to stop wyning...and get on top of my game as far as applying for the funding, right? and bless your heart, with all commuting that you are doing, you have got to love what you do..remember hard work, sacrifice and persistance, always pays off...thanks for all your responses...i am going to think of more questions..i guess i just need someone that has been in my shoes, to tell me it is okay!

Is that RN program going to be at the Scooba campus or Golden Triangle? I saw that survey on the website and I filled it out. They need a RN program at both campuses because they could easily do clinicals in Meridian or Philadelphia for the Scooba campus.

I was just wondering how school was going for you?

The ADN program at EMCC is going to be offered at the Mayhew campus - beginning in the Spring.

FurturenurseIam - if you find out of any assistance to help out with expenses and every day things while you are in school let me know - I am in the same boat as you.

Good Luck to all of you!!!
