dear friends,
senators barbara mikulski (d-md) and olympia snowe (r-me) have circulated a letter soliciting support for a $23 million increase in funding for nursing workforce development programs. this dear colleague solicitation asks other members of the u.s. senate to sign-on to a statement supporting $267.3 million in fiscal year (fy) 2011 funding for the title viii nursing workforce development programs administered by the health resources and services administration (hrsa).
if nurses can urge a large number of senators to sign onto the mikulski/snowe letter, we will be more likely to receive this funding increase. do not delay! email your senator today at https://secure3.convio.net/ana/site/advocacy?pagename=homepage&page=useraction&id=331 !
the deadline for senators to sign onto the dear colleague letter is monday, april 12th! to see if your senator is already a co-sponsor please click at http://www.nursingworld.org/mainmenucategories/anapoliticalpower/federal/senate-dear-colleague.aspx.

i just asked my member of congress to support a much-needed funding increase for nursing workforce funding! i hope you will join me by clicking here (hyperlink) to email your representative on this important topic.
**one of these funding programs is exactly what paid for my entire 3 1/2 years at a private bsn college, plus a monthly stipend. we have to keep funding these programs alive so people like me (single mom, older student and first person in family to obtain degree) can follow their dream to attend college.
now, if i could just find a job, to fulfill my 2 year repayment in an underserved location, all will be well in my universe.
