Eligibility to sit nclex please help

Hi everyone. CGFNS just emailed me (Feb 18 2015) that they are going to submit my files to NYSED. and until now i did not receive any email from the New York Education Department. And i call them and i ask when will i receive my eligibilty. they told me i will receive it on 2nd week of may! Is this really appropriate?

It takes 6-9 months to get eligibility in NYS. CGFNS only collects the documents & verifies them. NY evaluates the credentials to determine if a candidate meets the criteria to sit the NCLEX/is eligible for licensing as an RN in NY.

really? 6-9 months?? my friend got her eligibilty 1 month after cgfns i done. that's why i am really really confused right now.

6-9 months total from cgfns not just when NYS receives the report. You submitted an application to the Bon right? (Some people mistakenly think they just need to apply to cgfns and Pearson Vue. Others misread the information about the mandated classwork which holds up the process)

Did your friend apply to NYS? Did your friend have the exact same credentials as you? There are many variables to compare a friends result to your own

Yes sir. i already pass my form1 to nysed.. My friend got her email from nys 1 month ago after the cgfns is done.. but i did not get mine. same same.. we are same. that is why i'm confused. sir are you filipino? i really need help

I'm still not a sir. And I'm not Filipino. There are too many variables to predict and you cannot assume everything is exactly the same between you and your friend.

If NYS told you the 2nd week of May I would not push my luck. They likely aren't going to rush if you contact them. Hurry up and wait is the hardest part. The Bon is in charge right now

Have you registered with Pearson Vue. The email with the authorization to test is sent by Pearson once the BoN gives the green light

oh my bad. i did not register yet on pearson vue maam. So what do i need to do now? just wait?

Pay and register at Pearson. Once NYS determines you are good to go you will receive your ATT with instructions how to schedule the NCLEX from Pearson Vue.

ohh so i am allowed to register at pearson even if i dont have the eligibility.. so it was like they are just waiting for nys right? uhm.. is there a code or anything i need to know? or just pay and register?

I think you need a school code (it's done by country for non US educated nurses so all graduates from the Philippines are the same code) and basic info you should have. The registration is good for a year the ATT is not. Since NYS takes 6-9 months from first paperwork to cgfns its not recommended to register at Pearson until you are at the point you are now. Otherwise you have to wait for NY to submit to Pearson, be notified you're not registered then generate a notification to you to register to be able to get your ATT

okay maam. so, all in all. Just Register at Pearson then wait for the ATT. I will not mind the eligibility right? since i already registered at pearson..

The only issue is if your credentials don't meet the minimum standards for NYS BoN but if your friend has similar credentials and was accepted rejection is not likely.

Just wait and check your spam/junk folder yahoo, gmail, hotmail sometimes classifies the ATT as junk
