I submitted my application to El Camino in Torrance back in March of this year. The last time that I heard from them was back on 4/3/23 asking me to have ATI submit my TEAS exam score transcript which I did.

My Overall GPA is 3.5

My Science GPA is 4.0

My TEAS 7 exam score is 94% Overall

Hi Kay! Have you heard anything? Thanks!

No I have not. I got accepted into another program so I'm just going to start there. I'm pretty sure I didn't get into el camino

Congratulations on getting accepted into the other program. Can I ask which program you got into? Thanks!

Compton college. If you don't hear back from el camino I would suggest applying there.

With all due respect to Kay and Michelle:

Several times, I have asked you guys what your stats were and you refuse to answer. So I am going to presume you barely met EL Camino's requirements. I assume your overall GPA was around 2.9 and your science GPA was 2.7 GPA. I assume you guys got maybe a 67 on the TEAS. Maybe not exactly that GPA and TEAS SCORE but somewhere in that ballpark.

I am not here to judge people or make them feel bad. I am here to talk with other students and find out what their application looks like. That way I can give them an idea of where they most likely stand in the selection process for ELCO. Then possibly guide them on schools that will accept someone with whatever stats that person has if their current stats aren't good enough for ELCO.

I received an email from EL Camino today 5/12/23 stating that I needed to order my nursing uniform for the school no later than 5/19 in order to get my uniform in time for nursing 146 which starts on 6/20.

I presume if you don't get a letter by today from El Camino you most likely were denied. WHY?

When EL Camino sends the acceptance letter they give you around 2 days to respond to the letter stating that you accept your acceptance.  For example, my friend got her acceptance letter dated May 9, and the letter she got said to fill out the form/sign the form and then email it back no later than May 11 by 4:00 PM. It went on to say late or misdirected emails will not be accepted. The first orientation at EL CO for those accepted into the nursing program is on 5/25.

According to the  ELCO's nursing department, everyone will get a letter whether they were accepted or denied. In addition, the nursing department stated that the denial letters go out last. So I anticipate that the denial letters will start being sent at some point next week or at the very latest by 5/24 the day before the first nursing orientation on 5/25.

If you guys got into another school then congrats to you guys! Sorry if you guys didn't make it into ELCO's nursing program. Good luck to both of you guys! Wishing you all the best!

Fries,

congratulations on your acceptance.
can I ask why our stats were so important for you to know? Not everyone feels comfortable sharing that information.
but since it is so important to you

I am an LVN with 6 years of experience

overal GPA 3.6

science GPA 4.0

TEAS 80%.

good luck to you on your future endeavors!

Stats give me a better idea of the likelihood of a student being accepted into the program especially if they haven't received a letter so far. Also, it can help me offer advice like oh based on your stats you should apply at X school because I had a friend with your same sats and they got into X school. Just an example of a scenario!

Also, my application process might be different from yours. I just realized you're LVN. That means you applied to the LVN to RN bridge program. That is different than the nursing program I applied to there at EL CO. I applied to their "generic nursing program" which is for students that are NOT already LVNs that want to become RNs. The generic program is for anyone who wants to be a nurse except it doesn't apply to LVNS as far as I am aware. That is a separate program at EL Camino. Their application criteria for the LVN bridge program may be way different from that of the generic nursing program. Also, I heard ELCO only accepts 10 students into their bridge program every FALL/Spring vs 40 students every semester into their generic program every FALL/Spring.

Either way good stats, great work as an LVN and I hope you get into ELCO's program or some other LVN to RN program at another school.

but thank you for you help.

Oh great congrats! Your GPA is on point awesome. However, your TEAS score might have been too low for EL CO's bridge program considering they only take 10 students every FALL/Spring.

however, if you were applying to EL CO's "generic" nursing program you would have got in with those stats since they take up to 40 students every FALL/Spring.

I got my acceptance letter on April 26 since my stats were 3.5 overall, 4.0 science, and 94 TEAS score. So I was probably higher on the list than my friend. From my understanding the nursing department works their way down the list till they have reached 40 people.

My friend who got her letter from EL CO in Torrance on May 9th had a 3.7 overall GPA, 3.4 in Science and 78 on her TEAS exam. But keep in mind she applied to the "generic"nursing program.

Anyways congrats for you getting into Compton campus and good luck to you. I am sorta jealous that you will finish the program in less time since you're an LVN and it's a bridge program.

Michelle Herrera have you received any letter from EL Camino? Also what are your stats?

Kay, I know you got into Compton college. Congrats again!

Out of curiosity have you received any letter from EL Camino College in Torrance?

Michelle Herrera I am sorry you weren't accepted into El Camino's nursing program. The problem was that you had 2.9 overall GPA and a 2.7 GPA in the science. On top of that your TEAS score of 68% didn't help matters. I highly recommend you apply to west coast university. I know of some people who were accepted to WCU's nursing program and their GPA and TEAS score was very similar to yours.

Best of luck to you on your nursing journey.
