A lot depends on the need for money while you are going to school. If the CNA salary isn't enough to live on, and you need to get your salary up as soon as possible, go CNA, LPN, AD or BSN and so on.

I personally think all nurses should climb the ladder one diploma/degree at a time. But, that's my opinion and few of the BSN entry level nurses agree and they are the ones that are pretty much running the show. (NO! this is not a complaint, it's just pure fact.)

How you go about it is going to depend on your circumstances. Is there a BSN program near you that you can get into? Do you have young kids? Do you need to have cheap tuition at first (because you are paying out of pocket) then get an employer to fund the RN to BSN? In my area the prereqs for the BSN are only 1 semester longer (some are the same in other areas) and the time to complete the ASN and the BSN are the same. The Rn to BSN is one year. But the BSN is more expensive and very competitive.

What is the interest with nurse anesthetist? I hear alot of people wanting to go into it. Yet there is still a shortage of them. Just curious. Personally, I can't think of anything else worse for me to go into.

It all depends on your situation. My personal opinion is that if your goal is to be a CRNA and it is Doo able, go for the BSN. I must stair step up due to many children LVN to ADN then if Im lucky BSN. If you have the opportunity GO FOR IT......:)
