Here is a couple of books that are highly recommended for new NICU nurses. You don't need to buy the newest edition.
Merenstein & Gardner's Handbook of Neonatal Intensive Care
Core Curriculum for Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (Core Curriculum for Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (AWHONN))

Hey all,
I graduated in May and will begin my career in a level IV NICU next month. Are there any NICU nurses here that could suggest some educational material for me to read before I start, or provide me with any advice at all? I'm mostly interested in learning/understanding some of the lingo and basics before I start. The learning curve is going to be huge, so I feel that if I can come in with the ability to understand some of the lingo, it will make me feel a little bit better.
I'm so excited, and honestly I feel like I've landed my dream job. I'm thrilled that this is where my career begins. ?I'm a little nervous as there will be a lot of OJT since we really don't learn much about the NICU in school. I'd love to hear from you NICU nurses, and managers!
TIA
Mandi~
