Can somebody help me? I am a first year nursing student who is looking for info on educational requirements and certification of ER nurses. Any help would be appreciated.

The Emergency Nurses Association, based near Chicago has all the info. I don't know their exact web address but search for it under ENA.com. The certification they offer is CEN or certified emergency nurse. Good luck

Kudos to you for wanting to go into ER nursing. Generally any nurse should be able to work in the ED (as a holding nurse). What makes a superior ER nurse is of course years of experience and a CEN(certified emergency nurse). As well ACLS(advanced cardiac life support), PALS(Peds ACLS), NRP (Neonatal ACLS), and contact hours in ED nursing are an absolute must.
