Does anyone have a good teaching document to use when educating a UAP to assist a student self medicate, for example when the school nurse is out or when the student is on a field trip?

What age group are you talking about? Our certified teachers give medications on field trips - not aides or anyone else. It's in the school board policy. If it's an inhaler or something and the child knows how to use it, the child just does it and the teacher watches. The teachers carry the epi pen and always have a cell phone. This seems to work out very well.
I guess I wasn't very clear, what I meant was a document for me, the RN, to use to train the UAP (secretary, teacher, etc). According to our policy, a UAP has to be trained and be a volunteer. Just something to say they know how to abide by the 5 rights, how to document med was given, etc...........what do you do? Our policy and states nursing board says that in order for me to delegate this assistance task to a UAP I have to provide training and document their competence at least yearly......At least I think......I am getting confused again! :-) Just kidding, I am sure this is expected.
I just completed my own training tool, I used a combination of JCAHO stuff and went by the Guidelines for Health Care Professionals and Health Care Procedures In a School Setting developed by our State Dept. of Health and Dept. of Education.....It wasn't too bad, I made a self explanatory posttest of 3 questions to document teaching/learning.......If anyone needs assist, I can try to email a copy to use for an example......:)
