Edison State College Applying for 2010

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello,

I would like to know who is applying to the Edison State College(lee or collier campus) Fall or Summer program for 2010.

And has anyone taken the HESI exam? if so, how was it.

Also, I would like to know how competitive the Basic program is, and any other information will be appreciated.

Again this for the BASIC Nursing program, Thanks :D

STARDERI...would you mind posting your total score, and congrats on your acceptance? Are you in for the Summer term? I am just wondering if I have a chance of getting in with the score I have. They say 400 people apply, but I wonder if 1/2 of those people have a chance or if the scores are low and they apply anyway.

When I went to the orientation they said last years low score for acceptance as an 87. Is that still the case this year...if not, have you heard if it is higher/lower?

I scored well on the HESI, but my GPA isn't as high as I'd like, but I do have all the prerequisites.

last time i talked to the nursing office she told me that there is no cut off point..for example 400 students applied last year. they put the grades highest to lowest and fill in the seats like that. so its best to get somewhere in the 80's

Thanks Patricia....I guess I was just wondering what the "typical" low score is for acceptance. I know there is no cut off, and the applicant pool changes with each class, but I figured there was a typical score that is the "lowest score" of the 24 accepted....I hope that makes sense.

yea i understand, it use to be in the 70's but im not sure now...if i get a 91 or higher on the hesi i will have 80 pts..im so nervous. I dont think thats enough

Yeah, I know how you're feeling. I am not expecting to get it, but if I do I will be pleasantly suprised. I'm taking the HESI June 25. Oh, and you only need a 90.50 for all 50 possible points. I got a 90.28 on it the first time I took it so I am going to try to take it again for a 90.50 and all 50 pts. Then I will have a mid to high 80 score, depending on my final pre-req which I am taking Summer A.

That's great..question how did you study for it..i studied the whole section for the vocab but not all words are on the test..im actually going today at the ft myers campus to get some up to date information.

I just read the review book and did the review exercises. The review book is only an example of the questions on the test. Don't expect the Lee office to give you anything more up to date as far as exam questions are concerned. The review book is only there to give you examples, not to give the actual questions on the test. I also bought the Kaplan general nursing school entrance study guide. I didn't have enough time to go through all of it, but it seems more on topic than the HESI review book. I am very disappointed with the quality of the HESI review book, but it is better than nothing.

what are you guys using to study for the hesi? i bought the hesi book already but its very small and i don't think it covers everything. Im trying to study from my notes from A&P and biology but im worried im overthinking it and studying things that are too detailed and wont be on the exam. Please respond ASAP. thank you

Ok guys, im freaking out over whether or not i will get into the nursing program in the fall, at the lee campus. I have an over all score of 91. But last year they said they accepted around 55 students, and the lowest score was 77. This year they are only accepting 25, and im really stressing about where the cut off will be. Im guessig pretty high. I asked the cashier how many people came and paid for their application and she said around 600 so far! ugh, idk how competitive it will be this year!

91 overall? you will be fine..i have a friend that had 86 points and got in for the summer so just relax, apply and wait for that phone call or mail!!.......

hi,

I took the hesi yesterday and recieved an 89 that only gives me 45 points. and my total points are 85. Do i have a chance of getting in? Please respond truthfully. I have to notify my work and i can't tell them i going to be in school in the next few weeks and then find out i didn't get in. So please if you know that an 85 isn't high enought tell me. Thank you and good luck to everybody else. Please respond ASAP

Honestly, last year an 85 was good enough. The lowest they took was 77. This year, i would say that maybe 81-82 is the lowest that will get into the day program at lee, but at collier im sure you will get in, no problem. I would say its more likely that you will get in, than not get in. But Bobby say that 85 will get you into collier. I hope this helps? =]
