ECMO

Did anyone here run ECMO before applying to school? If so, how helpful was it to you when applying for school?

In the interview I mentioned that I do ECMO, they asked a few questions about the physiology of partial pressures and I was in. They seemed impressed. Good luck.

I used to run ECMO all the time, in fact I'd come into work and ask for an ECMO PTs we had on the floor. I had a very good knowledge of ECMO. Being in CRNA school now, I honestly don't think there is any benefit as far as applying goes. Maybe it shows that you can handle extremely sick PTs, but then again once they are on ECMO they tend to level out. It's what happens before ECMO that will help you, as a RN and CRNA candidate
