Anybody know anything about taking the Alaska state board? I just finished my ASN with Excelsior and I live up here now so I'd like to just do their boards instead of another state and then applying to Alaska. Anybody out there with any knowledge or experience with Alaska boards? Any recommendations for options on taking boards as an Excelsior grad?

Hi Ashlie - I took the CPNE in Lubbock, TX. The CPNE is a nerve-racking experience no matter where you go, but I had a good experience in Lubbock. You take EC's written exams through Pearson-Vue. You may have taken your LPN NCLEX there, depending on how long you've been licensed. If you are stationed where you can drive to Anchorage, you can test at Pearson-Vue there. Otherwise you'll have to either fly to Anchorage or Seattle to test, and flying anywhere up here is expensive, so you'd have to add that to the price of your exam. The University of Alaska also has an LPN to RN program I believe. So that might be an option for you as well depending on where you'll be living. Good luck whatever you decide. I'll be happy to answer any questions I can about EC or Alaska.
