Hi,

Anyone finished and passed the American Lit and English Comp exams for the EC program (ASN)? What is your opinion on complexity of it? I fear these classes........ :chuckle

didn't take american lit, but i am considering taking their english comp. i haven't heard of many people passing it, and those that i have heard of passing have done so by the skin of their teeth. i have heard the professors who grade the english comp papers are rather particular and brutal. but, this is hearsay.

they do have a new college writing exam that offers instant grading (instead of the 6 week minimum wait for the english comp) but is only 3 credits.

i am still debating what prereqs to take for the ec program. i am terrrible about choosing my own classes, i do much better if someone hands me a list and tells me to do them...lol. i have done all the nursing concepts, a&p, micro, all thru ec. i have made all A's. i am taking gerontology and life span psych within the next three weeks. i have to take all 31 credits of general eds, none of my prior credits transfered, so i started from scratch. i wish i could get them done faster.

and i wish i could decide what classes to take!!!!

sorry wasn't much help to you. i have also heard about a clep exam called analysis and interpretation of literature worth 6 credits and you don't need to know any works, just need to be able to interpret what is given to you. i have debated taking this course as well for the humanities credits.

good luck to you~!

All of my ASN Academic Plan was printed out by the Distance Learning Systems Indiana, Inc. They have sent me all of my study guides, books, and CD's. So they just told me what credits I had and what I needed and sent me the list of courses I had to get done.........If I want to try to take something else, I contact them, wish I could exchange something for English Comp.

Best of Luck to Everyone attempting a degree through this method of distance learning! It sure as heck ain't the easy way........

i take it you signed a contract with them? just make sure excelsior says you need the classes that this plan told you you need. excelsior is who issues your degree, and they have the final say as to what classes you need to take. would hate to see you take something you don't need! check it out, if you haven't already...

and best of luck is right, this is much harder than traditional way of doing things, just don't have the support of classmates, but there are internet support groups and those are great! you definitely need to be motivated and very dedicated to pursue this program.
