East Carolina University school of nursing

Published

I am about to apply to East Carolina's nursing school as a transfer student for spring 2015. I just have two classes left: Chemistry II and Nutrition. I am taking these this summer but not doing so well in chemistry. I am trying to get a lot done this summer. I have to take the NLN-PAX exam in august after my summer classes and I am also going to challenge the CNA I exam so that I'll have another point when I apply. On top of that I am working 2 jobs (about 30 hrs a week). My GPA is currently a 3.8...I haven't gotten below a B in any of my classes. But currently I am not doing so well in my chemistry class (I'm getting a C). I was wondering If I still have a good chance of getting into the nursing program at ECU. You get 9 points if your GPA is a 3.8 or above, 8 points if its a 3.6-3.7 and so on. I am also applying to UNCW next month but am unsure if I will get in due to my TEAS scores. ECU is my first choice..Thanks for any advice.

I think you will be fine. I am applying there as well and I got a C in my first Chemistry class. :/ However, my advisor told me it would not be a problem, because you just need a C or better to pass the class. As long as your GPA stays the same, or goes up, you should be fine. Don't forget you get one point for being a transfer as well as 2 points for never grade replacing OR 1 point for grade replacing one class.

Also, your NLN-PAX is a big factor. Anyone who scores above a 110 AND gets 50th percentile (or above) will be given preference.

(I made a 132 and percentiles were 92,90, and 73).

Here is the formula: https://www.ecu.edu/cs-dhs/nursing/customcf/downloads/BSN/bsn_formula.pdf

Good luck :)
