Duquesne University 2nd Degree BSN (ABSN) - 2025

Published

Hey everyone. I just would like to start this thread as I believe no one has created one for the 2025 cycle. I very recently submitted my application for the 2nd degree BSN (ABSN), the 12-month program to be specific. Please feel free to reply or add something to the thread, perhaps other people can answer your questions if you have any. Best of luck to all of us!

Hi, I submitted on the 18th but my transcripts have not been recieved yet. Feels like it shouldve sent by now. Did you also just request transcripts through the application itself?

Hey there! I ordered my transcripts from each institutions to be electronically sent to Duquesne. I would check with the admissions team, to see whether they have received them. For me, as they were electronically sent, they were very quick to process and I received an offer within a week or so.

OMG, I think it just never sent and I was mistaken. Thank you! Just sent them through Parchment right now. Congrats on your acceptance! @123tobeanurse

Congratulations! I believe the scholarships are announced at the same time as the offer. If you received one, there should be a page after the offer page.

Congratulations!  I recently got accepted to the program as well!  Yes, that's correct the second page of the offer letter had information about the scholarships.

Does anybody have any thoughts on the program or know anybody who's been through it recently?  It seems like it has a pretty good reputation from what I've read.

Hi! Congratulations on your acceptance! I cold messaged a few people that went to the program recently and now work in California (where I live). I got one response. Essentially, they think that there are pros and cons to the program, but by the end of the day, it was sufficient to have them be prepared for NCLEX and be a nurse.

coming back to this, will you be attending? Could you possibly share some pros and cons?

Hi!

So, I'm planning on attending this fall and will be doing the 16 month track.  I put down my deposit a couple of weeks ago and have been completing all the on-boarding requirements since then.

I went to the "admitted students" day in early April because I'll be moving from Washington state to attend the program so I wanted to see the campus and facilities in person before making a move like that.

A couple thoughts I had...

It seems like a really supportive learning environment.   All of the faculty came across like they really cared and were willing to help in any way they could to make sure students succeeded in the program.

They talked about having a 90% retention rate which was the most important thing for me to hear because the program does cost a lot and this is going to be a big investment for me.  They also have a high first time NCLEX pass rate like 96%.  What I took away from this is that if you start the program you have a very good chance of finishing it and if you finish you have a very good chance of passing the NCLEX.

The simulation lab and school of nursing facilities were up to date and seemed first rate and the campus is very accessible, really pretty and butts up right next to downtown Pittsburgh.

There was a panel of students currently in the program that answered questions and took us on a tour of the school of nursing facilities.  They all had great things to say about it.  Most of them lived off campus.  They said that even though it was intense, they felt it was very manageable and still had free time to socialize and have a life outside of the program.

Thank you so much for sharing. I recently sent my deposit as well! I am coming from out of state so it will be a big change. Hopefully there is some cohort page or facebook group everyone can join soon.
