Duquesne University CRNA - Fall 2025

Published

I wanted to start a discussion for everyone applying and interviewing! Any tips are appreciated on the interview!

Specializes in Cardiac ICU.

I live in Ohio and I had other offers there. Didn't want to travel. I actually like the school program. They seem to care about the student wellbeing.

My interview was 3 different people and the longest one was the first one with the director and the assistant director for 50 minutes. The other 2 were with the DNP faculty.  My only suggestion would be to know what your DNP project is going to be and hone in on how to conduct a doctorate level project. They asked me mostly emotional intelligence questions in the first part. Like what would you do in this scenario in the OR or on the floor. Have an example of a time you made a mistake. Honestly let your personality shine through. Good luck.

Hi! There is a Facebook group that was started for incoming students! The group is called Duquesne University CRNA class of 2028!

For those who were accepted, what were your stats like? If you don't mind sharing. I'm hoping for the best!!

Would I be able to join the group? My application is fine & I'm just waiting for an interview. This is my top choice program & I'm really hoping to just see what I can do to get in. I'd love to hear your stats / insight. Id genuinely appreciate it!

@somedayCRNA2015 What were your stats to get an interview? I'm submitting in the next couple of days and wanting to know my chances to even land an interview!

Thank you!

After submitting the application, how long did it take to be notified of an interview date? How did they let you know? My application moved to the review stage today.

Congrats to everyone that's been accepted. I genuinely appreciate any advice you may have, it means a lot!

Just commenting again to see if anyone has any advice to offer. I've applied and was told I should hear if I got an interview in the next week or two. I'd really appreciate any advice, honestly. I'm really hoping to get into Duquesne. I've listed my stats below:

BSN GPA: 3.97, science GPA: 3.96 (A's in all Duquesne Pre-Reqs: A&P 1, 2, Chem, Microbio, Pharm, Stats, Research). total GPA: 3.60 (including my ADN program)

2 years CTICU (level 1 trauma, academic center) taking care of ECMO, LVADs, Impella, IABPs, CRRT, open-heart & vascular surgery patients. Very high acuity as we are the only heart transplant / high volume + academic center in the middle of PA (cough cough: hershey med). Tons of Swans & gtts. I should have about 3 years by the time I'll (hopefully) get into a program, but I'm applying at the 2-year mark.

CCRN w/ ECMO micro-credential, TNCC certifications. BLS, ACLS, PALS. NRP (neonatal resuscitation).

Shadowed CRNAs for 40 hours. Unit council member. I present monthly research to help educate our staff at a Cardiac Research club. Precept & mentor to newer nurses. AACN & AANA member. I attended a 3-day Diversity CRNA airway workshop / conference at Fairfield U. Attended one-day anesthesia seminar at a CRNA program. Registered to attend my state's CRNA association conference. Registered to attend the AANA mid-year congress (in D.C.). I try to be as involved as I can since finishing nursing school. No major volunteering or GRE. I haven't taken any graduate level science courses.

EDIT: will be applying so that I have +2 years by the start of the program in August 2025.

What exactly are you worried about?
You have amazing Stats, and I think you know that.
hopefully, you've written a good compelling essay and just wait for them to respond.

there are still interviews dates left

I think your fine! 🙂

Hi, thanks for responding. I'm mostly worried that I won't get an interview even, I know it's only getting more competitive out there. I'm wondering what Duquesne specifically looks at / emphasizes? I've tried to make myself as competitive as I can since graduating my ADN program. I appreciate your encouraging words, maybe I'm just anxious haha.

When did you hear about an interview after applying? was it through phone or email? I'm not entirely sure how many people they're interviewing and how many seats are still left. Thank you so much

You have very strong STATS. I had similar. When I applied and interviewed, most of the questions were EI. I was offered a seat the next day. I believe they want all-round candidates. You got this!
