dumb question about scrubs

I am going shopping for scrubs to wear to my first hospital job. They said that I need to wear all Emerald colored scrubs. That's fine by me cause I like green, but I am overly worried (as always).

Is it safe to assume that any dark crayola green could count as emerald green? Hunter green is very close to emerald green as is forest green and jade green. I know they probably just say emerald so that you don't show up in seafoam or lime or turquoise, but I just want to be sure. :D

This may eventually change to Eggplant purple so I think I'm going to go with the wash one wear one strategy until I know for sure.

The hospital is such a colorful place!

Congratulations on your job! Have you seen the scrubs other staff members were wearing? This could help you with the exact color. Also, when you go to purchase scrubs, ask for help at the store. They should be able to tell you what is considered as Emerald. Hope this helps.

I would try to look around the hospital to see what color green the other staff was wearing. I tried looking for emerald green on the Landau website, but they didn't have anything specifically emerald. Too many greens! hehe ;)

Good luck, and congrats on your first hospital job!

Make sure you ask your nurse manager how strict the color needs to be, some hospitals are real picky. If it absolutely has to be a very specific shade of green then ask if there is a place where they suggest you purchase from that they know has that exact shade, or maybe they have swatches that you can take shopping so you know your picking the right color.

I once worked for a hospital that allowed us to where 3 VERY specific colors and we had to order them from a particular catalog because they were the only ones at the time that had these very specific shades of purple, green, and blue. If you didn't wear the exact color you got written up. I had a hard time when I got pregnant because I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on all new bigger scrubs just for a few months! They really gave me a hard time about it. Some places are just anal about this stuff, so it's better to find out for sure before you go spend a bunch of money.

Good luck with your new job!!

Thanks, I never though about asking for a brand or swatch. I looked around when I had my tour of the department, but I didn't see anyone in green. Then again everyone could have been wearing green and I might not have noticed. I was in shock that she offered me the job. Now that I think about it the HR person said something about somewhere that I could buy scrubs on payroll deduction I bet they would know. I'll just have to find out where.
