I was convicted of a DWI (non-felony) in Texas over 8 yrs ago; I graduate with a BSN in Arizona in MAR 2006. I know I need to contact the AZ BON some time before I finish school, I'm just worried that their going to hold this against me. Has anyone out there recently passed the NCLEX with the BON recognition of the DWI conviction. I have police and court records all ready for the BON; does any one know if they let you sit for the NCLEX while they are deciding your fate.
They won't let you sit for the NCLEX here in Texas until the Declartory Order has been approved by the BON. They tell us if we have anything at all on our records to file the petition before we even start school because it takes so long for them to process it. I would get it done TODAY if I were you. You don't want to graduate and not be able to take your boards. I'm sure there are plenty of folks out there who have something in their past. If they didn't let people who had gotten a DWI or have something else on their records, there wouldn't be many nurses. Don't put it off another day. Good luck to you!!

As we keep stating, each case is decided on a case by case review. You will need to deal strictly with the AZ BON on this. No one here can give you legal advise on this. The AZ BON is the only one that has any jurisdiction over this.
I would have had them make a ruling before you even started your program.
I highly recommend that you get in contact with them now.

Thanks for the advise, I am going to get into contact with them this monday. I know I am not the only person out there with aspirations of becoming an RN that has had a run in with the law. I was 22 y/o when I made this dumb mistake and I am now 30, how long do I need to keep paying for this.
