Hi everyone, I am anticipating a DUI charge in my home state. I also hold licenses in a few other states as well. I've been freaking out reading through many of the threads and was wondering if anyone had guidance for what I can expect. Will I be disciplined in every state I hold a license in? If I surrender the out of state licenses before the conviction and initiation of discipline would I be on the OIG exclusion list?
What should I do about employment during the months the court case will take to reach a conclusion. I'm told it may be several months to upwards of a year based on court and testing backlogs. I've been advised by counsel to continue as I normally would with work until the conclusion and it's time to self-report. In the meantime of course I'll get a headstart and get counseling, attend AA, etc. I feel this bad situation so much worse by having these other licenses, I admit I made a mistake and will have to face years of probation, monitoring, etc just from my home state. However hard or long the path before me will take I will walk it to its completion if I am able to keep this career which is so dear to me. I'm hoping some of the other states will allow my time in probation/monitoring in my principal state to count toward whatever they may impose. I'm imagining a worst case scenario where I'm having to serve probationary period after probationary period, where the impact of this one incident will be multiplied both in severity and duration.
Any and all advice is appreciated. I would be willing to talk in more detail over PM or email if anyone is willing.

I am curious how you made out ? I received a DUI and was wondering if it is reported to BON immediately . In Fl
Hi, I can't comment on Florida unfortunately. I would search these forums and look up your reporting requirements as a start. I have not yet been charged and have received no communication from any of the states I am licensed in regarding the arrest. Many states require you to report after a conviction or a charge rather than an arrest. If possible you can look up the Florida BONs disciplinary actions and look for similar cases to yours and read up on what happened with them. Regardless of circumstances it's always best to be proactive, look at what is likely to be required of you and get started on what you can before you have to report. After a lot of research it looks like most boards won't take away your career, it's just a matter of how much fines, restrictions, and monitoring will be required of you. At some point you will need an evaluation regarding your substance use, you may be able to find an approved provider and do this ahead of time so when it comes time to report to the board you reduce uncertainty about your safety to practice and can help lower the chance of a suspension pending you doing the evaluation and education. I would find a lawyer that deals with the board and get a free consultation and see what they recommend and think is likely to happen in your case. Online forums are only so helpful. I hope things work out for you ?
Thanks for info . I will start by looking at BON website for requirements .
