I am an out-of-state student looking for some advice regarding school deadlines for drug screens and the possibility of delayed results due to a sample that is too dilute. I completed my drug screen this morning at a LabCorp in Minnesota. However, when I arrived for my 9:30AM appointment, I was unable to go. On the tech's suggestion, I drank several cups of water and waited approximately an hour to try again. I was able to go the second time, but noticed that my urine sample was very clear with a slightly yellow tint. The University emails state that the deadline for results to be submitted is this Friday, March 27. 2015. The email also states, "Failure to complete on time will result in forfeiture of your space in the program." I am concerned that my sample may come back too dilute and I will have to re-take the test. Basically, I am extremely terrified that having to re-take the test will inevitably delay the reporting of results, resulting in the loss of my spot in the program. I would be absolutely devastated if I were to lose my spot in the program and am curious as to whether anyone has any experience with this. More specifically, how long does it take LabCorp to inform a donor that their sample is too dilute and that they must re-take the test? I am also hoping that the nursing program has some sort of protocol for extenuating circumstances and will take these circumstances into consideration when making decisions about releasing a student's spot in the program. Please advise. Thank you!

I would think that as long as your sample doesn't have the same specific gravity as water (i.e., you didn't dip it in the toilet), you'll be fine. Don't panic.
