I have both the 2009 Mosby's Drug Cards and the reference handbook.... neither of which seem to be as helpful as I thought they'd be! I know there are new drugs all the time, but I can only find about 1/3 of what I need in either of these. The companion CDs that come with them aren't very helpful either. I thought there was some way we were able to copy and paste info from the drug cards or reference book from these discs to help cut out this busy work we are doing for clinical paperwork. Am I missing something?? Everything comes up as a PDF document, so I can't copy and paste, so I'm left trying to sift through the really important things and I've been typing out these drugs FOR HOURS! I've even tried doing internet searches for these drugs but even then I can't find a site that has everything I need, so I have to find different websites for different pieces of info.
I am really frustrated!!! I am going to fail nursing school if I can't find a good shortcut for this, because all my time will be spent typing up drug info for clinical and I won't have time to study or do anything else for school!
Basically what I'm asking is... what is your BEST drug reference for school? Something that I can COPY AND PASTE for this paperwork. I'll invest in it. I'm sooo frustrated and stressed with these stupid drug references that I'm getting acne LOL helppppppppppppppp!!!

You're right....Mosby 2009 isn't that great. But I do find that I can make my med sheets from it. I also use drugs.com & medicinenet.com.
Is there something specific that you're looking for or are you just looking to copy/paste?
I know it takes me FOREVER to do my med sheets!!!

Its just one of those clinical things we have to suffer thru. There really is no easy way.
If I cant find the drug in my drug book, I look on the internet. I also make sure to tell my professor I could not find it. This happened to me last week with an antibiotic. We called pharmacy to get info.

We use Mosby, it isn't the best but so far there have only been maybe 8 or 10 out of about 375 that I have had to resort to the internet for. Oh and we aren't allowed to type, cut/paste, buy them. We have to do them all handwritten on large index cards. 200 for this semester and 175 for last. I'm so jealous you're allowed to cut/paste.
Do you need a hand finding something? I've had good luck just googling the drug and that will usually pop up the manufacturer's info on it

I use Davis's Drug Guide. I have only come across 1 or 2 meds that I couldn't find in the book. I haven't tried to cut and paste from their site so I couldn't give any info about that. I think that the most time consuming part of my clinical day is looking up the drugs before we give them at 8am, but it is a necessary evil. Good luck

When I was in school I used Lippincotts--had to as the writter of the book teaches the pathophys/pharmacology class there!! LOL I found that I also did have to use the internet a lot for my clinicals and looking up the patients meds.........and yes it takes a long time. Part of the torture of being a nursing student----but good news .......I made it through alive!!! LOL
Alright, thank you so much for your replies. Maybe I was misinformed that there was some shortcut for this busy clinical paperwork, but I could have swornnnnnnn they said something about it! Hence my frustration! :)

I use this site it's the monthly prescribing reference.

The info can be put onto power point (copy and paste) then print as handouts 2 per page for 5 X 8 cards- well actually smaller. Just delete repetitive stuff like class and things you already know.

We weren't allowed to type them. They had to be hand-written in OUR handwriting. And they had to be PERFECT!!!
