Drexel Post-Master's Certificate or Rutgers DNP?

Hi there !

Looking for some career insight ?

I'm a pediatric/PICU nurse with 6 years of experience. I have my MSN in nursing education and am interested in becoming a pediatric NP as well.

I was just accepted into Drexel's Post-Masters Certificate program for Pediatric Acute and Primary Care NP and Rutgers' Post-BSN DNP program for Pediatric Primary Care NP (they basically don't want to count much of anything from my masters degree). I'm trying to decide between the two.

Any recommendations?

I am leaning towards Drexel because of the time and money . . .

but I think Rutgers is technically the better school (as well as my alma mater for my undergrad degree). Rutgers, however, is a buttload of additional credits and for what, I'm not sure. They will also only count about 12 credits from my masters degree and are essentially treating me like a post-BSN applicant (the program is a total of 74 credits).

Another benefit of Drexel is that this program would offer me the opportunity to easily complete both the primary and acute care tracks, which offers a lot more flexibility when I graduate.

I don't know much about Rutgers program but I'm finishing up Drexel's DUal Peds primary and acute care program and have really liked it.
