Drexel Ace Program Fall 2023

Published

Hi everyone,

I haven't seen a thread for the Fall 2023 cycle as of yet so I thought Id start one!

I was wondering if anyone was able to find/ talked to someone about the course plan/ curriculum for this program. When I go on the website, it only really shows the degree requirements, but I would love to see any information on the specific breakdown of when we take which courses.

Hi everyone! Current ACE fall 2022 student, close to finishing up my 1st quarter this week. If anyone has any questions and want to know more information about the program of studies. I will spill at the tea! LOL I know the website doesn’t say much about what classes you will take. Congratulations to those who were already accepted and good luck to those who are still waiting!

So far I really like the program. It's really what you make it in my opinion. & what do you wanna know? LOL For the nurse corp I am actually a recipient for this year’s scholarship cycle, so if you want guidance in the application cycle I gottchu. But to answer your question, the cycle opens around march or April of every year. Just keep an eye out on the website and facebook page and they will post the exact date the cycle will open and the deadline.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions! how many classes per quarter? Is there a lot of writing papers like nursing care plans or more tests? Do you feel like you have all the support and resources from the faculty to be successful in the program?  I can't wait to start the program!

No problem girl, I got time now! LOL Your first quarter there is 1 clinical which is for fundamentals of nursing. It is every other week. On your week you don’t have clinical, you have lab. It is 5 total classes the other 4 are health assessments with lab, pathophysiology, genetics which is online, and contemporary health care. I have only completed 1 quarter, so I can only speak on my experience thus far. But we did not do care plans this quarter, it’s something that I believe we get into in the 2nd quarter. & I believe they just throw us into it, so if you wanna be ahead of the curve start getting familiar with those. Since genetics is online we had a few discussion boards and other projects. But each question only had to be about two paragraphs. It was definitely test based in 1 quarter and I believe thats how it is although the program. I do believe the support and resources are there. Drexel definitely doesnt have alot to offer. I had trouble with patho and health assessments, so I fid purchase outside resources that helped. But it may be different for you. Some people in my cohort didn't have trouble with any classes while other like myself had trouble in a few. Here is a breakdown of the rest of the quarters

Q2 - 3 clinicals: med surg 1(adult & illness 1), mental health, gerontology. Pharm 1

Q3 - 3 clinicals: med surg 2(adult & illness 2), maternity, pediatrics. Pharm 2

Q4 - 2 clinicals: critical care(adult & illness 3), population health. Leadership, research basis, and comprehensive nursing. One of those are NCLEX prep, & mostly busy work LOL

No problem, & I noticed I typo LOL I didn't mean to say drexel didn't offer alot, I meant to say they DO offer alot. Thanks, I have one more final to take on Friday. When they tell you the program flies by, it really does! I can’t believe I’m basically done with my first quarter already. & the fact you’ll be starting and I’ll be finishing is mind blowing!

Thank you so much for all of your helpful responses :). I had a quick question about living situations. I'm not from philly/ have never been there, so do you have any recommendations on where to live off campus? or do you live on campus?

Thanks for all of this info. I am wondering if there are any international opportunities in the ACE program - like a week abroad somewhere in between quarters?

So I live off campus, I was blessed to fine a place where someone was renting one of their rooms in their townhouse. I have my own room and bathroom and share the common space with one other person. I also needed something fully furnished and it was the cheapest I could find. I would just do your research and way your options. I big thing for me was price since I don't come from a family that support me financially. I do everything on my own. So it all depends on what you can afford. I hope that helps

Yes there are but since ACE students only have a week between quarter besides Winter break its not recommended and I don't think its even possible. The only time you can study abroad is in the month of december. They will send opportunities via email
